CT Brain Angiography by Expert Radiologists in Andheri West – Curis Life

What is a CT Brain Angiography?

CT Brain Angiography (CTA Brain) is a specialized CT scan that uses contrast dye and X-rays to produce detailed 3D images of the blood vessels in the brain.

It helps detect abnormalities in the arteries and veins of the brain, allowing early diagnosis and treatment planning of serious neurological conditions.

At Curis Life Multispecialty Clinic in Andheri West, our expert radiologists use advanced multi-slice CT scanners to capture high-resolution images of brain blood vessels for precise evaluation.

All CT Brain Angiography scans are performed only by prior appointment to ensure safety, comfort, and personalized care.

Why is a CT Brain Angiography Done?

  • Detect brain aneurysms or arteriovenous malformations (AVMs)
  • Evaluate blockages, narrowing (stenosis), or clots in brain arteries
  • Identify vascular causes of stroke or transient ischemic attacks (TIAs)
  • Assess blood vessel involvement in brain tumors or infections
  • Plan or follow up on brain surgeries or endovascular treatments

Instructions to Follow Before a CT Brain Angiography

  • Fasting: Do not eat for 4–6 hours before the scan (if contrast is used)
  • Hydration: Drink water (if allowed) before and after the scan to flush out contrast
  • Clothing: Wear loose, metal-free clothes (no jewellery, watches, or hairpins)
  • Medication: Continue your regular medicines unless advised otherwise
  • Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, allergic to contrast dye, or have kidney issues
  • Bring previous brain imaging reports (CT/MRI) for comparison

These instructions will also be provided at the time of booking your appointment.

How the Test is Done

  • You will lie on a motorized table that slides through the CT scanner
  • A contrast dye will be injected into a vein (usually in the arm)
  • The scanner captures multiple images of brain blood vessels in quick succession
  • The scan is painless and takes about 15–20 minutes

After the scan, you may be asked to drink plenty of water to flush out the dye
