CT PNS Scan by Expert Radiologists in Andheri West – Curis Life

What is a CT PNS Scan?

A CT PNS (Paranasal Sinuses) scan is a fast, painless imaging test that uses X-rays and computer processing to create detailed cross-sectional images of your sinus cavities and nasal passages.

At Curis Life Multispecialty Clinic in Andheri West, our expert radiologists use high-resolution multi-slice CT scanners to provide clear and accurate sinus images to help diagnose and plan treatment effectively.

All CT PNS scans are performed only by prior appointment to ensure comfort, safety, and dedicated attention.

Why is a CT PNS Scan Done?

Doctors may recommend a CT PNS scan to:

  • Diagnose chronic sinusitis or recurrent sinus infections
  • Detect sinus polyps, cysts, or tumors
  • Evaluate nasal blockages, deviated nasal septum (DNS), or nasal masses
  • Assess sinus anatomy before sinus or nasal surgery
  • Detect bone erosion, fractures, or trauma in the sinus area
  • Monitor the effectiveness of ongoing sinus treatments

Symptoms That May Need a CT PNS Scan

  • Persistent nasal congestion or blockage
  • Recurrent sinus infections
  • Facial pain or pressure around eyes, nose, and forehead
  • Headaches that worsen on bending forward
  • Postnasal drip or thick nasal discharge
  • Loss of smell or frequent nosebleeds

Instructions to Follow Before a CT PNS Scan

  • Fasting: Usually not needed, unless a contrast dye is required (then fast for 4–6 hours)
  • Hydration: Drink water if allowed, to protect kidney function if contrast is used
  • Clothing: Wear loose, metal-free clothing (avoid jewellery, hairpins, or spectacles)
  • Medication: Continue your regular medicines unless told otherwise
  • Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, allergic to contrast dye, or have kidney problems
  • Bring previous CT/MRI/sinus reports for comparison

These instructions will also be shared at the time of booking your appointment.

How the Test is Done

  • You will lie on a motorized table that slides through the CT scanner
  • The scanner rotates around your head to capture detailed images of your sinuses
  • If needed, a contrast dye may be given to highlight certain areas
  • The scan is painless and takes about 10–15 minutes

After the scan, you can resume your normal routine immediately
